Solace in the Storm

Recognizing God
I had a fascinating experience at our North Campus church last Thursday morning.
You might recall that, last Thursday, the weather forecast included heavy rain and storms in the morning.
When I arrived at the church to pray my morning prayers at 6:00am, it was overcast, but not raining; although you could see dark clouds approaching from the west.
Around 6:45am, as I was walking around the inside perimeter of the church while praying a Rosary, I saw light raindrops appearing on the west windows. I thought that was strange, as it is very quiet in the church at that time of the day and I would have thought I would have heard the rain hitting the roof. I assumed it must be just a very light rain.
My curiosity got the better part of me though, and I decided to walk into the narthex of the church to see if it looked like more rain was approaching. Much to my surprise, I found that it was actually a downpour. There were sheets of rain rolling across the parking lot like waves of water blowing in a storm on a lake and or in the ocean.
As I reentered the church proper, I smiled, hearing again no sound of rain hitting the church roof, but just a comforting silence. My smile was based on the thought that, in the storms of life, where is it we go to find that peace and solace? Where do go for comfort? We go to our loving Jesus.
...how blessed we are to have that source of comfort in our lives. Thank you, dear Jesus!
