Children's Giggles

Recognizing God
Every Sunday our son does something my wife and I look forward to each week. We have a video call with our two granddaughters who are ages 6 and 8.
As these girls are getting older, it is very common for the two of them to talk in tandem and tell us about what wonderful things they have been up to, especially during the weekend of the call.
On the last two calls, we were told of various scrapes and bruises or mosquito bites they received from playing outside, whether from falling while riding a scooter or bike, or encountering some bug bites while playing in the grass. They made a special effort to show us the bruises and mosquito bites while smiling, as if they were badges of honor.
My wife and I smiled as they showed us the impacts of these remnants of outdoor fun. They giggled and smiled in competing with each other to see who had more to show from the weekend fun. Their laughter caused us to giggle and smile as well. They were particularly pleased when we told them how brave they were to endure such minor impacts of fun.
Their sense of wonder and awe in living an active child’s life made me want to see God’s gifts in life more. We are given a world full of beauty in nature and through the experiences we have. My question is: Do we take the time to cherish such gifts as children do or do we ignore them while only moving on to our next commitment or responsibility?
God wants us to enjoy life. Let’s honor His gifts by doing so whenever we can.
